Boy, do I love this.
I imagine a Google-like scenario in which all of the members of a collective organically move between the four areas of focus. In which people assemble into an “organization” (though that word seems inadequate) that constantly shifts and remodels itself to support the primary goal of connecting art and audiences.
What I also love here is that this is inspirational without being overly defined. You could end up with a variety of different “organizations” that don’t resemble one another but that were all inspired by this same piece.
It also goes without saying that by presenting your ideas this way, rather than in some long-winded blog post (raising my guilty hand here) you are inviting interpretation and creating inspiration. Fewer words = more new ideas.
Thank you for this, Tony.
This is great. I vote for MORE 2amt Whiteboards!
That’s the plan…
This is a lovely framing of an effective organization. It takes the traditional “3-legged stool” analogy of mission, money/management & marketing and creates a a visual image that more clearly indicates how all of the functions of an organization are interrelated and must work together to truly achieve success. I’d love to see this in practice, and imagine that such an organization would probably also benefit from Andrew Taylor’s “job function trading cards” concept (http://www.artsjournal.com/artfulmanager/?s=job+trading+cards).
